THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE

You were the best friend you could possibly be last night.  Thank you.  I tried and I failed, and you were there for me, telling me that we all have our bad days.  I couldn’t think of a better thing to say.  You put your arm around me and told me about the time you cried in a bathroom for thirty minutes, without anyone noticing.  I wanted to be there for you then.

When I do badly in a sport I get emotional.  Most of the time I’m pretty good at covering my feelings.  Not during sports.  Maybe it is because of the extreme adrenaline that pumps through my body at a million pounds per second.  When the adrenaline leaves, and I realize I did badly, I can’t help it when I feel little droplets forming around my eyes.   I also can’t do late nights.  Sometimes after double soccer I am so stressed that I need to cry, thankfully it is pitch black by that time.

But not tonight.  I didn’t need to cry tonight because you were there, offering support.  One the way home we laughed and you made me forget that we were even coming home from try-outs.  I laughed and laughed and no one could figure out what we were laughing about, I didn’t even know myself.  I was so happy you were there for me.

Thank you.

About closeenoughtoflying

I love writing! I want everyone to understand what I am thinking, so I created this blog. I hope everyone continues to read it, and I would love to hear your input. Here is an about the author I wrote Ali likes to create new writings.  She is always surprised by her own mind and loves to explore the deep crevasses inside of it.   She never knew that she could creatively write before this project.  Her only experiences in writing were either very formatted essays or disasters.  Her disasters include a novel that she worked on for three years. Unfortunately, when she finished it and reread it, it made no sense.  She looks forward to continuing to blog. She believes that blogging is a very accessible means of expression and allows one to see his or her writing in a published format. She loves to explore different subjects as they call her attention. One day she hopes to lead a group of girls to explore writing and nature. She would like to create a camp for the underprivileged, giving them an opportunity to enjoy nature and creative writing. She would also like to lead a group of girls in giving back to the community by volunteering at places such as the Food Bank, the Food Bank Farm, soup kitchens, and animal rescue centers. She wants to take these girls on a road trip to explore other areas. Ali loves to backpack and would like to share her love of the outdoors with others. She would be fascinated by what the girls have to teach her and the opportunity to help them experience things for the first time. Ali has been involved in some camps like these as a camper. She wants to offer similar experiences to people who can’t afford them. The writings in this collection explore Ali’s various interests. Those include: skiing, soccer, running, volleyball and volunteering at the Food Bank. Her writings touch on such diverse topics as why our society may be entering another dark age, her hopes of winning the Olympics and her changing opinion of Halloween. Almost every day over the last month and a half Ali has sat down and written something. It is fascinating to see how her work has progressed both in subject matter and style. Interestingly, some of her best writing started off with her not knowing what she was going to say before she wrote it down.
